To create this film series, I stopped at all of the Baptist churches that advertise on the main highway that ran past where I was living in rural western North Carolina. At each church I took a portrait, finding a surprising amount of churches on this relatively short stretch of road.

When submerged in the rural south, I was immediately astounded by the concentration of Christian churches. As a non-Christian raised in the suburbs of Northern Virginia, the number of churches was overwhelming and Baptism arose in an effort to parse through each individual building. Through Baptism, I personally explored the prevalence of this religion in my neighborhood without intruding on the internal spaces.
